Pasó el tiempo y se llevó la vida y pasaron los días y pasaron los años llevándose sus fríos y sus sofocantes calores
Me volví viejo, lleno de enfermedades, quejidos, llantos y dolores
Me encerré en mis faenas, en mis quehaceres y en mis sudorosas y agotadoras labores
Y descuidé la mujer querida, la más bella de mis ardientes amores
Dejé secar el jardín florecido y se cayeron de tristeza los pétalos de las hermosas flores
Descuidé un amor y un querer y se esfumaron como por encanto sus fragancias, sus aromas y aquellos deliciosos olores
No me di cuenta a qué horas pasaron inviernos, primaveras y veranos, ni la hermosa naturaleza con sus esplendores
Tampoco me quedó tiempo para presenciar las tardes de arreboles con sus paletas y el ocaso con sus bellos colores
Ni ver las bellezas de la tarde en la playa, ni del crepúsculo, ni del candilazo, ni el alba del amanecer, ni ver el boceto de pintores, poetas y escritores
Tampoco escuché el silbato de la locomotora que se acercaba, ni vi la fumarola de la chimenea del tren que llevaba presuroso a los trabajadores
No me quedó tiempo ni de ver a luna, ni de presenciar la belleza de sus luces y rayos encantadores
Menos, me quedó tiempo para dedicarle a solas un minuto a la vida, y ver un hermoso amanecer, ni compartir la banca, ni una anécdota con los mayores
Y me encerré entre cuatro paredes al final de mis días a reflexionar de mis caídas, de mis soledades y de mis humillantes errores
Pero ya fue tarde, porqué pasó el tiempo y en solitario se acabó mi vida y me llené de miedos, de fantasmas, de pánicos, de tristezas, de adefesios y temores
Y una noche escalofriante, miedosa, macabra y fría, se me presentó la muerte como compañía con sus agónicos y pestilentes olores
Y aterrorizado, pálido, ojeroso y mudo, tembloroso, paralizado, sudoroso y lleno de temblores
Y al ver la muerte tan cerca con su mortaja inmensa, nauseabunda y negra, el graznido de un cuervo anunciaba mi muerte, llegando al final de los tiempos de los cobardes soñadores
Y pasó el tiempo y pasaron los años y ni una lágrima de aquel amor, ni un recuerdo de los traidores
